    Minimum Requirements
    Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

    Applicants must not be employed.
    Applicants must not be enrolled with any institution for a qualification nor be registered in any Learnership Programme.

    Applicants must not be in possession of a completed post-matric qualification.

    (NB: Failure to disclose post-matric qualifications will result in applicant being disqualified)

    Applicants must have a Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science (minimum of Level 3 in ALL subjects)

    Are you currently employed in the field of nature conservation and interested in growing your skill set? Join our fully paid, 12-month learnership programme to enhance your skills and qualifications. On completion of the course, you will gain a National Certificate in Nature Conservation: Resource Guardianship (NQF 2).

    The certificate is equivalent to a Grade 10 qualification and will open doors to entry-level reserve jobs. 

    You will learn how to:
    • Conserve biodiversity on your current reserve or conservation areas. 
    • Monitor and remove invasive vegetation. 
    • Engage in tasks such as fire management, rehabilitation, infrastructure maintenance, fauna and flora monitoring, plant propagation and administrative duties. 
    • Collect data for site-restoration purposes and promote environmental education and awareness among community members, residents, business owners and related organisations.

    You will be expected to:
    • Complete assignments aligned with practical experiences on reserves. 
    • Attend training and learner support sessions. 

    To qualify, you must:
    • Be interested in completing a nature-conservation qualification. 
    • Be employed, preferably in the conservation or environmental fields. 
    • Have a workplace mentor. 
    • Have a Grade 9 statement of results. 
    • Be a South African citizen with a valid ID. 
    • Be between 18 and 35 years. 
    • Commit to the 12-month learning programme while maintaining employment. 
    • Allocate six weeks for in-person training during the 12-month period. 
    • Be prepared to complete related training assignments and enjoy outdoor and practical work.

    • At least six months’ experience in a nature conservation or similar role will be to your advantage.
